The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo made its North American debut at Rusnak Westlake BMW on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. For the first time, attributes of an elegant sedan, a contemporary Sports Activity Vehicle and a classic Gran Turismo are masterfully melded into a single, harmonious vehicle shape. The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo adds new facets to BMW’s Ultimate Driving Machine tradition and refines the concept of first-class travel.

The traditional European term Gran Turismo (Grand Touring) was first applied by Italian carmakers in the 1950s when they combined the performance, handling, and style of a 2-seat sport car with luxurious amenities and luggage room for each occupant. BMW’s new Gran Turismo nurtures this tradition in its own contemporary way, providing exceptional space, style, luxury, and comfort for four passengers, plus the performance and driving pleasure of a BMW.
 It does so with 21st-century technology. BMW’s wide-ranging EfficientDynamics engineering philosophy endows this new automobile with an outstanding balance between performance and efficiency. Thanks to its innovative twin turbo V-8 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission, the 550i Gran Turismo can accelerate from rest to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, yet delivers excellent efficiency in everyday driving.

 The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo radiates a unique blend of sportiness and stylish presence. Typical BMW proportions, four doors with frameless windows, and a coupe-like roofline combine into a harmonious, highly distinctive silhouette that visually represents this vehicle’s innovative capabilities.
The Gran Turismo’s visual presence is a fusion of established BMW identity and new elements. Its elongated hood and long 120.7-inch wheelbase coalesce with a “greenhouse” set well aft and a fastback roofline into a profile that’s immediately recognizable as a BMW, yet at the same time communicates a new vehicle concept. From the first glance, it’s clear that this is an exceptionally roomy vehicle, yet also a highly dynamic one.
Inside the 5 Series Gran Turismo, users find generous dimensions, inspired contemporary design, and individualized luxury. Sweeping contours – such as those of the interior door panels – combine with rich, premium-quality materials to create an ambiance that is equally satisfying to front and rear occupants.

4th Annual Sierra Madre Wine & Jazz Walk |
Rusnak Jaguar supports Sierra Madre Wine & Jazz Walk |
 The historical San Antonio Winery and Sierra Madre merchants once again joined forces to host the 4th Annual Sierra Madre Wine & Jazz Walk, benefiting City of Hope research and treatment to help the fight against cancer. The event was held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 4-7p in downtown Sierra Madre.
While strolling through town, people tasted award-winning wines and local cuisine at 30 participating retailers and downtown establishments. The music of the evening was provided by eleven bands playing on stages, most outdoor, and in more intimate settings inside the businesses. There was also be a silent auction featuring dozens of items up for bid.
This year’s event also included a new feature, the San Antonio Winery Wine Garden, open from 6p-8p. For an additional cost, guests were be able to access this private area which served premium wine and food along with live jazz provided by Sweet Heat, a popular Latino and World Beat rhythms band.
In 2008, over 1,100 people attended the event helping to raise over $74,000. To date, the annual event has raised over $100,000 for the City of Hope.

Presenting sponsor of the event, San Antonio Winery, donated the wine of the evening. Nearly one hundred years ago, Los Angeles was home to acres of vineyards and more than 90 wineries. Today, only the San Antonio Winery (www.sanantoniowinery.com) remains, producing premium quality wines from grapes grown on vineyard estates in Monterey, Santa Barbara and Napa Counties. Their wines have won more than 1,000 awards in national and international competitions, including several platinum and gold medals as well as best of class awards.

On the evening of October 17, 2009, Paul Rusnak extended his personal invitation to “Rusnak Reveals a Night of Luxury at Universal Studios Backlot” revealing the 2010 Jaguar XJ, the 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost and the 2010 Porsche Panameras. The evening also featured “Getaway Glamour” - a fashion show showcasing the Spring 2010 Kevan Hall collection.

The evening began with the reveal of the Jaguar XJ by actress Maiara Walsh from Desperate Housewives and Richard Beattie, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Jaguar North America in the Court of Miracles while sipping on champagne and dining under the stars.
The Jaguar XJ is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the quintessential Jaguar and redefines the world's perception of a luxury sports sedan, offering a seductive mix of striking design, intuitive technology and innovative thinking.

The second vehicle to be revealed was the new 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost by 2009 Miss California, Tami Farrell in the European Street. With a sense of adventure and technical innovation,the Rolls-Royce Ghost achieves unprecedented dynamism and modernity with flair and style.

Later in the evening, the Porsche Panameras were revealed by Paul Rusnak to the crowd in Spartacus Square. Seldom has a Porsche been so eagerly awaited. But now the wait is over: The new Panamera is here, and it has redefined the four door, four seat design. Guests explored its uniqueness and uncompromising styling.

 On Wednesday, November 18, The Distinguished Speaker Series of Southern California presents former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. In addition to being one of the most respected statesmen in U.S. history, she is also one of the most revered and admired women in America. After serving as the National Security Advisor to President George W. Bush, Condoleezza Rice was appointed the 66th Secretary of State by President George W. Bush In 2005 and served until 2009. A woman of uncanny intelligence, versatility and presence, she crafted and articulated the U.S. position on the world stage. Dr. Rice is currently a Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution and professor of political science at Stanford University.
